| Goal: |
Flyer to announce music show in downtown
Durham, NC. I'm not involved in efforts to revitalize downtown Durham,
but as a Durham resident I'm supportive of the efforts. I wanted to
create a special flyer that would show pride in the downtown area. |
| Solution: |
Re-created club and surrounding street
with Legos. Included figures and vehicles to show an active scene.
Hidden jokes include Blackstrap's drummer skateboarding, Véronique
Diabolique hiding on top of a building, a construction sign, and Star
Wars characters. |
| Result: |
Fans and musicians requested copies,
and the club owner hung a framed copy in her club. The image was forwarded
to neighborhood listservs and online newsletters. A huge crowd attended
the show and the club owner was quite pleased. Flyer won Honorable
Mention for Poster Design in the NC AIGA Boom Biennial Show (2007). |
